What counts as a herbal preparation here
This shelf covers plant-derived preparations in every format we dispense them: dried herb pressed into tablets or filled into capsules, liquid extracts and tinctures, loose and encapsulated powders, and the homeopathic lines that were previously filed under a name of their own. Turmeric and curcumin formulas, liver and detox formulas and single-herb lines all resolve here rather than to a page apiece.
Reading a botanical label
Herbal packs quote a dry herb equivalent — the weight of raw plant material an extract corresponds to — beside the much smaller weight of the extract itself, which is why two products showing very different numbers on the front can describe the same quantity of herb. Where a preparation is standardised to a marker compound, the carton names that compound and its percentage.
Liquid extracts are measured in millilitres with a dropper or cup supplied, and most use ethanol as the extraction solvent at a percentage printed on the bottle. Combination formulas list every herb they contain with its own equivalent, so the panel rather than the product name tells you what dominates the bottle.

Common questions
- What is a dry herb equivalent?
- The weight of raw plant material that an extract represents. A 200 mg extract standardised at 10:1 is declared as equivalent to 2 g of dried herb. Australian labels print both figures, and the product page reproduces them.
- Do liquid extracts contain alcohol?
- Most tinctures use ethanol as the solvent and print the percentage on the bottle. Glycerol-based and alcohol-free preparations exist in some ranges and are labelled as such. If it matters to you, the bottle is the place to check before ordering.
- Are these products listed with the TGA?
- Therapeutic goods sold in Australia carry an AUST L or AUST R number on the pack, and we reproduce it on the product page where that applies. A few items are regulated as foods rather than therapeutic goods and carry no number; the listing shows whatever the manufacturer prints.
- Can a herbal preparation be taken alongside prescribed medicine?
- That is a question for the person who manages your medicines, not a product page. Take them the pack, or the product page with its full ingredient panel, and they can check it against what you already take.
